Griz of Oz Gangnam Style

I was animating some loops whilst listening to PSY's song on repeat... and this is what happens.
I blame it on a lack of sleep, hahaha! :D
Anyway, yeah, all animation is mine... all will be featured in my BFA short film coming out in November :)
I am very excited and nervous!

Sketchie sketchie

So everything is starting to crunch- BFA thesis is coming up quick, and I have not been puttg enough time into AM. Please wake me up when November ends :D
But, for some reason, little side projects help me stay sane. That and seeing real life people occasionally :D

So here is the poster pic for my BFA Animation Thesis this November:

I'm so excited, and so very nervous and scared of failure- not getting it finished in time.
Please goodness I hope I'll have it done.

So without further ado, I'll upload some more recent sanity-keeping sketches and get back to it, hahaa!

Tao Shu Tsin- don't think he'll get finished anytime soon, or even look the same. I wanna change his lower half to more snakey-dragon than anthropomorphic.
And change that stupid hand >(

Who can resist dapper porpoise? Noone, that's who.
IT'S FANCYPANTS FRIDAY, ee ee ee ee!

Ka'ev is Hebrew for 'hurt'. Had a bawwww day recently apparently.
So there's that :D
I have more piccies, some ink and pencil shenanigans, but I'll upload them at a later date.

Until then, remain sane my friends. ;)

How To Draw A Dream in 4 Easy Steps!!

So I had this crazy lucid dream a couple of weeks back from my way back from AM BBQ (which was AWESOME btw)
I dreamt I was drawing the drawing below- every detail, so I could remember it all. It was nuts- I've had dreams like it before, but I usually completely forget what I dreamed up by the time I wake up :O
So it was crazy to be able to wake up and still remember exactly what I had sketched out.

So I woke up on the plane... went OMG... and got it down on my laptop before I could forget any major details!
So that was the initial drawing- just a concept sketchy sketch of what I could remember.

Next I worked on getting details worked out- fixed some anatomy mistakes also. (jellyarms!)

Bam! Final Lineart Foo!!

A white background is fine too :D

Base coat, then lock layer's transparent pixels (so I can't draw outside lines)
Started background too.

Colour base finished with details.

BAM! STRIPES!

Almost finished....

Yeayyy!! Finished image!

The Thai writing says "Fierce as a tiger/ Crafty as a fox"
No, I did not dream in Thai... I just remember that being the saying in my dream. :D
And that it was written in very elegant and curly writing- when I saw Thai, I aha'd.

So to recap,
Step 1: Have Dream.
Step 2: Wake the Heck Up.
Step 3: Scribble Down the Dream.
Step 4: Draw it More Until it Looks Good.

Hahahaa!

A Sadface Tiger

You know when you have a lot of feelings, and you just HAVE to draw something-
whether it be happy/sad/excited/frightened- I swear it's like an artist psychosis :D
And when I say artist, I include muscians, writers, etc...
Do you get that too? You get inspired- you get the mad desire to make something- it's so crazy.

I think the only intense mood that retards my drawing would have to be the self-doubt times- where you  feel like a hack and you mope around and want to lay on the floor and lament for some reason :D
Ahh, those times. Where anything you try to draw turns into SADTIMES, hahaha.

Vertis

Vertis the feathered spiny Oviraptor.

Technically I guess her tail should be out rigidly straight, to counter the weight of her head and forequarters.
Ah well.

I had so much fun! I worked in a buttload of different layers, just keeping the base blue layer's pixels selected so I didn't draw outside the lines.

So: lineart on top layer, then light blue layer, white-yellow tummy layer, texture layer (the pinks and purples), stripe layer, then several other layers for background, aurora, stars, border and text.

Calvin and Hobbes Stu Mods and Anatomy Sketches.

I was drawing some anatomy for a friend of mine, just some rough sketchies-
Comparative anatomy, wot wot?

As always, dinosaurs. What else would expect from me? :D

-------

So I have started Class 3, and I have decided to do 3 shots on a theme...
Can you guess what that theme is?
I'll give you a hint...
Look below ;)

After lots of broken rig heartache, NURBS-polygon frustrations and everything else, here are some shots of my newest Stu mods :D

The amazingly talented riggers at AM provide the Stu rig, and I mess with them >. >
Still to come, a better house and door ;)

Moth Wallpaper (I think?)

I always fail at these size ratios, but anywho, if you have a weird-butt screen resolution, here you go :D

Here is the URL to download the full tasty size: moth_memoryspan_by_inkydragon-d53fon3.jpg

I was on a Google+ hangout with some AM buds and some Awesome Aussie Artists and modellers, and somehow the subject of the memory span of a moth came up, and in my 2 am addled-brain thinking, I decided to draw one.

So here's a moth, or a desperate contrivance of one, you decide :D
I love the odd shapes of bugs, I really should draw them more often.
I'm currently batch-rendering my shots for this term, I will have a Class 2 Progress Reel in the next week or so, when I've tweaked some more of the animation. :)
Later dudes and dudettes!

Once upon a time, I forgot to upload artwork

The End.

Here is Queen Elinor, after she is magically transformed into a bear.
I love her curviness; Pixar did an awesome job at making her bear self so curvy and bloopy and awesome.
This is her SHOCKED FACE.

I made this for my Pixar Animator Mentor, Jon Collins! :)
They had just finished animation on BRAVE, and I felt some congratulations were in order!
Doesn't Mordu look festive?

Here is a Headcrab zombie I did back in February and did not post : /
And yes I know the gun is wonky as all get out- you can tell I draw them alll the time :D

O HAI, LOOK
It's me, working on a museum model :D
I sculpted and casted and painted it, and one day it will be on permanent display :D
I need to get some better photos of the model, he looks a lot different now, Mr. Shonasaurus dude.
I am painting down in the basement of the museum in the Paleo dept. ;)

Now, back to our old artwork broadcast:
Here are two pictures I quickly did for my friend's essay :D She had this amazing scifi story with these unintentionally horrifying aliens, and they were begging to be drawn.

They are quite terrifying aren't they? D:

I was messing around in photoshop last year and drew this for my boyfriend- we'd been discussing what abilities out Real Steel robots would have- he wanted his to have a mohawk and be a grappling robot.
WHABAM! Here 'tis.

There's text that accompanies this guy:
'What is your name?' she asked, raising a cold hand to feel his foggy breath.
'I doest not know- what is my name?' he breathed.
'How about Snowshadow?'The being snorted derisively.'That is terrible.''What?' she replied, hurt.'It's like me calling you Person.' He cackled.'Then... your name is Toby.''That's much better.'He smiled, turned tail, and disappeared into the night.'That's much better.'He smiled, turned tail, and disappeared into the night.

This dude hangs out on my portfolio cover- he was originally made for a big uni essay project last year, about a student's path to the animation industry. It was a lot of fun, and it gave me an excuse to be curious and bother animators to share their stories :)
Lots and lots of fun!

So there is your time warp- back into the 2011's with Hannah :D

Oh, here's a picture of General Grievous as a farewell:

hehehe... he's so grumpy.

Reindeer, dinosaurs and wolves.

I swear those are all related.
Ok, here are a BUNCH of updates.
First off, here is a wolf run I sketched up for the Animation Mentor site.
My mentor Ethan Hurd has been describing how I needed to make the werewolf run, with his feet making a decidedly more 'doonk -doonk' syncopated rhythm.
I decided to draw a cycle up, to make sure I was understanding what he meant.

So the bottom run cycle is my initial animation pass, (before asking Ethan to kindly take a look), and the top wolf is the revised run cycle, integrating his notes about spacing feet and watching arcs more closely ;)

Now this next one is just a silly one I did for my fellow Paleo nerds on AnimationMentor- it's an armless therapod :D
He's so nefarious >)

Here are some Reindeer designs I did a few months ago, but sadly neither of them won the competition I entered them into: a design for an engraved placard at the Reindeer Research Farm to recognize generous donators.

AAAAAAnnnnnd here is the last one,
my first crack at using Mudbox! A big mean monster thing :D

BLOGGER VIDEO Y U SO TINY?

Anyway, here 'tis ;)
Enjoy!

Elsa with Sauerkraut

So here is Elsa, as I sorta half-promised :D
She is posing with her much-loved Sauerkraut.
I hope you like this!

More Wolfpaw

Because he is fun to pose, and adorable to look at :D
Enjoy ;)

"We're Back!" Nostalgia times

So I found "We're Back!" on DVD the other day, and I was admittedly a little excited to find it. (ahem)

I've been trying to find this movie for years- my friend and I used to watch this movie and 'The Princess and the Goblin' repeatedly. I have fallen in love with it all over again :D
The music, the character design, everything... is so beautiful.

So I was inspired to draw Rex, because he's such an awesome character. I might get to draw the rest later :D
Anyway, here he is with a hotdawg, looking rather excited about the whole situation.

Please enjoy!
